This week, a pair of cookouts sponsored by LIUNA Local 563 and the Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust (LECET) brought some food and fun for to more than 700 hard-working pipeliners and family members.

The union laborers, operating engineers, welders, and Teamsters who were filling up on hamburgers and hot dogs cooked by Local 563 business agents are building the Dakota Access -- the largest pipeline project in North Dakota history.

Local 563 Business Agent Cory Bryson estimates that the Dakota Access currently employs 600 LIUNA members in addition to hundreds of other crafts.

When completed, Dakota Access will have the capacity to ship half of North Dakota's oil production, significantly reducing the congestion and hazards associated with rail shipments.
